Description

Kyoto offers authentic Japanese food in the heart of Madinah. Madinah's first-ever Japanese restaurant, Kyoto is located just a few meters from the Prophet's Mosque, on the first floor of the Oberoi Hotel. This restaurant remains an essential address for lovers of Japanese cuisine. Whether it's to enjoy a sushi platter, a seafood salad, or a delicious bento box, its team will meet your taste expectations and enhance the main dishes that have made Japanese cuisine world famous.

The restaurant is sufficiently spacious and offers two different spaces, one of which has an open kitchen with a plancha and tables to be able to sit right in front of the Chef and to admire him preparing the dishes. This remains an additional experience adding to the taste and pleasure that such cuisine provides. Another major asset, a family corner with 7 seats is also available in a closed room with its own plancha and personal Chef. Typical Japanese decor with a touch of modernity and fine cuisine make this restaurant a must-see for food lovers.

Wonderful garden and it feels very Japanese with the vibe and rich tradition and culture stuff. Food however was rather average to the extent that I wouldn’t want to try again even with much lower price. Ive tried many Japanese food and tbh I really can’t appreciate food from Hyotei, let alone that it costs more than 900usd for two people. It’s all very plain raw product, nothing fancy. And the taste is really just average, either raw with not much taste, or too salty. And there’s a lot of potato and radish dish, I mean, it’s 900+ USD Michelin 3 star, I would expect food to be really impressive or al least made from some exquisite materials? The room was also quite cold during this time, plus most of the food is served cold, and the duration for lunch was dragged till 2 hours, it was quite freezing till the end. Overall it’s not a great experience despite friendly staff. Makes me wonder how were they awarded 3stars.

Please note the star rating is in proportion to each respectively. Giving 4 star means it’s less than 5 but does not mean it’s bad or less that regular 5 star ration. It get less simply not all dishes were served by single staff . Chop sticks were not kept even/parallel and noise of placing item on table is not 100% silent. Yes, I had been spoiled. The service is very very good. Just not flawless perfection. The atmosphere got a star off because I just witness a guest falls on slippery stone path with formal suit on. Probably leather shoes are too slippery or too much drink. The fish in near by pond are beautiful. The small garden and ancient rooms shows history. Lastly, the food were well cooked with generous portion and very good quality. Every aspect pass 5 star mark but the food is superior than other factors. By the way, fruits are also served with big portion and this is rare. The sweet is excellent and the last dish matcha is very very high quality and taste. Thumbs up but please exercise before enjoy their meal.

The prices are ridiculous and the arrogance to try to have those prices in the presence of the prophets masjid is disgusting. We walked out knowing full well in our gut that it was not going to be any better then high st sushi we have in the U.K. that would cost between £10-£15. Alhamdulillah we walked out as we have more sense then money. Oh and the rude old lady who I presume is either an owner or their cheerleader actually made me laugh calling us poor, typical racism from Arabs towards non Arabs. This is not the behaviour I expect from Muslim owners in the city of the beloved Prophet saw. Shame on you!

Absolutely gobsmacked with the level of unprofessionalism. We saw the menu and was gobsmacked with the prices. We kindly requested to leave the table, I could be eating Novikov back in the UK. As we leave a female member of staff shouts "poor people don't belong here" Little do they know I'm a bitcoin King just not stupid with my money. 300 for A nigiri set that almost £80.00 which is an absolute bump for if I remember correctly 6 pieces. Edit: Furthermore they are serving seafood sticks as Crab. What an absolute sham of a restaurant. KEEP YOUR MONEY IN YOUR POCKET, DONT EVEN BOTHER BECAUSE I CAN ASSURE YOU THERE IS NO QUALITY CONTROL BY FAR THE WORST JAPANESE FOOD I HAVE COME ACCROSS TO DATE. WHEN YOU HAVE PRICING WITH WORLD REKNOWN NOVIKOV OR AMAZONICO YOU GET THAT LEVEL OF QUALITY. I AM NOT PAYING AND I AM GLAD I DID NOT PAY FOR THE FOOD. SUPERMARKET SUSHI HAS BETTER QUALITY.
