Description

Kyoto offers authentic Japanese food in the heart of Madinah. Madinah's first-ever Japanese restaurant, Kyoto is located just a few meters from the Prophet's Mosque, on the first floor of the Oberoi Hotel. This restaurant remains an essential address for lovers of Japanese cuisine. Whether it's to enjoy a sushi platter, a seafood salad, or a delicious bento box, its team will meet your taste expectations and enhance the main dishes that have made Japanese cuisine world famous.

The restaurant is sufficiently spacious and offers two different spaces, one of which has an open kitchen with a plancha and tables to be able to sit right in front of the Chef and to admire him preparing the dishes. This remains an additional experience adding to the taste and pleasure that such cuisine provides. Another major asset, a family corner with 7 seats is also available in a closed room with its own plancha and personal Chef. Typical Japanese decor with a touch of modernity and fine cuisine make this restaurant a must-see for food lovers.

There’s this old saying in Kyoto, Ichigensan Okotowari (1st time customers without introductions not accept) still being practiced, especially the long-established businesses (Shinise) & it’s OK to respect their custom It may seem troublesome, but it’s best to get hotel to do the reservations. Then the Japanese spirit of hospitality (Omotenashi) will follow We asked hotel to book a private room for 3 & specified “no foreigner menu”. Meaning no shortened menu & must have the Hassun, which is the most difficult dish to prepare & explain We got the whole dining hall to ourselves. The Head Chef Omakase 12 courses + some. Served by the Okamisan. And the Oyakata came out to see us off in our taxi till we were out of sight It was an excellent dinner

The only good things about this restaurant is the view, the rest is HORRIBLE ? for people who give this restaurant good reviews probably never eat good Japanese food. The price is horribly expensive compared with the taste of the food, the quality of the good, and the service is very wrong ( but i cant complain with the service bcs mostly people here bad at customer service) the sushi is like cheap supermarket sushi in my country, with the very high price they still use single use wooden chopsticks ??? the miso horrible, the desserts very bad is like you buy biscuits from supermarket and you put on the plate with very bad dry cake. The salad was bad too, the only good alaso thw beef but still not worth the price!!! Probably they only selling the view not the food. Please mister you have to fix your service. You even bring payment details when i still sit there and not asking for the bill yet, feel like u kicked me out bcs im looking poor. Sorry to say but yeah your food is really really bad, i hope you seen this review and be better! Salam

Food: Definitely rooms for improvement with that high of a price. Food is overrated and price is too expensive. But since there is not many Japanese restaurants in this area, you’ll have to accept it if you’re craving for Asian food. Service: Excellent services by staff. They cleared the empty plates as soon we finished eating & pour the drinks for us. Plain water is charged, which a bit excessive as other 5 stars hotels easily provide this as complimentary. Atmosphere: We arrived around 10.30pm and there is no other customers. The vibe and whole ambience was calming, with a view of Nabawi Mosque.

Had 3-course breakfast. Loved the “osuimono” (soup), very fresh “ayu”(sweet fish), finished with sparkling congee. Garden was beautiful for Summer morning. Staff was very kind and attentive. The downside was that it was time-bound (1 hour sharp), implicitly rushed. I would have liked to have my breakfast slow, thus rating 3 star for service.
