Description

Located to the west of the Quba Mosque, the Ethiq Well has great historical importance in Islamic history. When the Prophet Peace & Blessings of God Be Upon Him (PBUH) migrated to Madinah with his companions after extreme persecution in Makkah, the people of Madinah welcomed him with open arms. As the Prophet arrived, the entire city was overjoyed and came out to receive him with singing and celebrations. It was at this Well that the people of the tribes of Al-Aws and Khazraj and others came out to greet the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companions.

History

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his companion Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (RA), stood to rest in a garden next to the Ethiq Well known as the Shade Garden. The sun was shining down, and it was very hot. Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq raised his robe to shade the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and in order for the people of Madinah to know that they were in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). The people of Madinah were overjoyed after seeing the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and brought him water and many welcome gifts.  You may also be interested in visiting the nearby Ghars Well.

The Al-Ghars well was a place from which the Prophet (ﷺ) drank and made a request that he be bathed with its water after his wasaal. When I die, wash me with seven waterskins from Al-Ghars Well. He (ﷺ) also used to drink from this well.
