Description

The Ghars Well (also known as Bir Ghars) is a very important well in Islamic history which is connected to the Seerah, The Life of The Prophet Muhammed, Peace and Blessings of God Be Upon Him (PBUH).  It is located in the Blessed City of Madinah, close to Masjid Quba and The Garden of Salman Al Farsi (RA). The Ghars Well was one of the well perferred by The Prophet (PBUH) due to its freshness and was said to have drank water and performed ablution from the well. 

It is reported is reported by the Blessed Companion of The Prophet (PBUH), Ali ibn Abu Talib (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) said: “When I die, wash me with seven water-skins from al-Ghars Well. He also used to drink from this well.” [Ibn Majah].

The well has been recently restored by the Ministry of Culture and includes drinking water taps for pilgrims as well as a prayer area besides the well. It is located next to Dar Al Hijrah School off Ali Ibn Abi Talib Road.  You may also be interested in visiting the nearby Ethiq Well and Garden.

Its a 5 mins ziyarat. Water has been stopped for maintenance. Ice cream trucks outside sell tasty ice cream for 3SR only. Also vendors outside have reasonably priced things for gifts.

Peaceful place with a wudu area and musalla prayer area. The well is protected by a fence. Closes at certain times. A date farm is nearby.

SubhanAllah The Ghars Well!!! The Prophet PBUH drank from it and bathed in its water. He once told Ali ibn Abu Talib that he wanted to be bathed with its water after his demise: “When I die, wash me with seven water skins from Al-Ghars Well.”

Very nicely maintained by auth of Madina governorate. Has masjid also which is open during prayers timings. Separate ladies and gents water points are established. Parking is available in vicinity. Has boards also which mentions the importance and saying of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ❤️ pbuh about it.

It's one of the important ziyarats in Madina as it has 2 significant importance - 1) Our beloved prophet PBUH had blessed the water of this well with his luabe mubarak 2) Our beloved prophet was given Gusul with this well water on his last day May Allah bless all ummate mohammadiya to visit Mecca and Madina once in their life. Ameen.
