We checked into Fairmount Clock Tower Hotel on 12 December 2022 with my in-laws and my mother inlaw who is visually impaired.
After we got our rooms we prepared to set off for Umrah immediately.
Upon getting downstairs, my mother inlaw got on the licensed wheel chair operators to perform her Umrah rites, and her own wheel chair had to be kept aside.
Since all of us would be proceeding to the Haram (The Grand Mosque) to also perform our own Umrah, I rushed back to the Ground Floor to ask the attendant to keep her wheel chair for us, so that after we return, she can use her own wheel chair and get back to her room. The attendant brusquely told me he couldn't keep it.
I rode the elevator up to the reception to ask them to keep it for me and they refused too, quite rudely I must say.
I had to go back to her room on the 51 floor to keep the wheel chair.
The elevators, out of a bank of 10 had barely 3 functional ones and you can imagine the queue.
The carpets on our floor were frayed and had a very unkempt appearance.
Perhaps they are more focused on their top tier guests, perhaps because I was a black woman....all of these factored in the way I thought and I ended up very unhappy and unimpressed for the rest of my stay.
It is very doubtful that I will lodge here again.
