Description

Altopiano is a fine-dining restaurant that specialises in serving Italian cuisine fused with Saudi ingredients wherever possible, yet preserving the authentic Italian taste. The restaurant is located in the Bujairi Terrace in historical Diriyah which makes it the perfect place to reflect this infusion between the two cultures. It has beautiful indoor and outdoor seating with rustic interior design, dim lights, patio heaters which create a warm and cosy ambience. Altopiano has a degustation menu that focuses on the senses and the Italian culinary art, and they take their guests’ feedback into consideration in creating their menu. 


They welcome you with the well-known Italian Bellini cocktail drink which is a symbol of pride in Italy. For starters, you can enjoy the delicate taste of Carpaccio, Burrata, Arancini, and the Insalata Altopiano salad with dates. For the main course, they offer delicious Risotto Bosco, Branzino sea bass, and Bistecca steak. As for desserts, you can enjoy the cloudy dreamy taste of their Tiramisu and Panna Cotta. They are renewing their menu every time so don’t be surprised if you find new items. 


The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the general manager himself, Mr. Stefano, is known to greet guests personally to explain the concept of their menu and the story behind this lovely restaurant. Altopiano is one of The best Italian restaurants in Riyadh. It’s a great place to have an unforgettable Italian dining experience with your family.

I really liked this atmospheric place, great for walking, lots of good restaurants and cafes. At first we got lost and couldn’t find parking for a long time. But then we found that the parking located about 7 minutes from the cultural center. To enter the complex, you need to buy tickets. But everything is processed very quickly through the application.

An amazing historical place that showcases the rich history of the Inception Saudi empire. History is complimented with a touch of modernity through induction of some quality cafés and restaurants. There is a daily life museum inside as well that showcases life during the yesteryears of the kingdom.

A prestigious place offers everything but not food. Overall, it's is below average given the location and the name of the restaurant. I ordered lasagna, burrata pizza and arrabbiata and didn't like any one of them. Honestly, I make better pasta myself. Lasagna has no taste at all (you don't taste any spices) and the pennee pasta was plastic. The pizza was somehow acceptable but not the best I've ever tried. I would never think of visiting this place again.

It's a must visit historic tourist destination in Riyadh. Well maintained,clean, and luxurious. A good number of fine dining restaurants are available. Preferably visit before sunset so as to enjoy both day and night view of the place.
