This one is a bit tricky, Baker & Spice boasts a nice fresh ambiance especially with the food being displayed as eye candy. The staff are accommodating and cheerful and the seating venue is well lit during the day (haven’t visited during night time) the menu seems rich with a variety of items and the dessert display is quite big as well.
Here is where it goes downhill though, the portions are not consistent i.e. some items on the menu are a single serving while others are good for two to three, all in all the food lacks in flavor (some of the dishes are an exception though) but I’d expect consistency across the board from such an establishment. Prices are confusing as well, that is to say, the expensive dishes tastes mediocre compared to the less expensive ones (at least in our order).
The bread is good, the mushroom soup lacking in flavor, the salad portion is very small (two portions from the salad bar) burger and crispy chicken strips were average, chicken liver dish was good, guacamole portion is small and comes with another cheese based dip (not so great) the tortillas that were first served to is were stale and had to return them. The fish and chips was a disaster, at least the fish were. Too much batter and not enough meat. And finally the dessert, this too wasn’t up to expectations. I really hope the restaurant ups its game, it’s a shame to waste the nice ambiance with a less than perfect servings.
