This is my second time staying at the Elaf. The hotel is close to Haram and the rooms are good, unfortunately I am giving a one star review because of the absolute terrible checkout experience, and lack of customer service. We were checking out on the first of Ramadan after staying two nights. Check out is 12:00pm. Knowing it would be busy around Dhuhr time (12:30pm) I kindly requested late check out, even until 1:00pm. The front desk said no. This is the first hotel I have ever stayed at that has said no to late check out, especially just one extra hour. This is where things went even worse. We arrived downstairs with our luggage at 12:00pm to try to get a taxi and the roads were shut by police for prayer time, with no cars being allowed to enter. We sat in the lobby for the next two hours, trying to get a taxi Uber or careem, until the roads finally reopened at 2:00pm. The taxis were being turned back from about 500metres away. We asked the front desk when they expect the roads to reopen, or what we should do. They were so unhelpful, they said it’s not our fault the roads are closed, you can walk. I’ve never experienced such terrible customer service before. They told us we had no option but to walk or wait 2 hours. I was travelling with my mother and lots of luggage so walking was not an option. Thankfully we didn’t have a flight otherwise we definitely would have missed it. Because of this extremely unfortunate experience, especially during Ramadan!, I would not advise anyone to stay here unless you want to walk in the heat with your luggage! I will not be staying here again. One more point to note is that you can hear the car traffic and honking all night and it’s absolutely terrible. And the man putting perfume on people near the elevator should not be there! I was in ihram and he put perfume on my hand!

It was a bad experience, I had booked two night 300 USD/Night through booking and got a very bad services: - 24 hours noise of the traffic and vehicles horn in your room, you could hear the traffic officers noise in your room. - The smell of Indian spices in the entrance make you feel vomiting. - I was booked king bed room and they gave me two separate beds. - furnitures are so old. - Old sanitary and facilities - It is very difficult or impossible to find taxi pick up you. - All the foods variety are for Indian people not Arabic, even if you order Kabsaa will come with Indian spicy means they don’t have Arabic chefs. -staff were rude and will ignore your request and not answering the phone. - They even have announcement sign that they have a lot of empty rooms during Ramadan, means the guests were have a very bad experience with them before and warning each other. - They are writing a signal in the rooms that “The hotel is not responsible for any items stolen from your room”, means it happen before with them and they are not trusting their Staff ?? This one start just for the location , Stay a way from this hotel there are alot of alternative options like Makarem Ajyad which much better than this bad hotel.

Elaf Al Mashaer hotel is around 5 min walk to get to the Haram. Hotels offer free wi-fi, flat screen TVs, safes etc. The lounge is beautiful and the service is decent. The room was as expected and more than excellent.Nice view from the room. Parked at a nearby free parking lot. The hygiene level is good and the hotel is Neat and tidy.
