Description

Wadi Namer Waterfall is a natural water park located in Wadu Hanifah, Riyadh and has been developed over the years to attract tourists. This desert oasis is the favorite spot for many picnickers.

Landscape and Activities

This lake is a good spot to visit with family and friends in order to spend quality time. People often plan picnics and arrange barbeques at a short distance away as they are not allowed near the lake. The area is filled with greenery and palm trees beside the sidewalks and there are hills surrounding the lake. All of this makes the landscape even more pleasing to the eye.

An electronic water pump has also been installed in the lake. The waterfall beside the lake is a beautiful sight, especially at night when viewed from the WadiNamar promenade when all the lights are lit up. Some ducks and fish can be seen swimming around in the water. There is enough area for families to play sports and ride bicycles. Other facilities such as food stalls and restrooms are also available. Locals especially enjoy this place as it is one of the few natural lakes in Riyadh, so the area can get a little busy and crowded on weekends.

Visiting the lake

Entrance to the lake is free. In summers, many people prefer to visit after 5 pm when the weather is milder. Some people even plan to stay overnight as the lake remains open 24 hours a day. However, if you want to view the water, it is best to go during daylight as it will not be clearly visible after sunset. People living in Riyadh will find it a good escape from their daily routines.

This is pretty much the first 'touristic' place I have visited in Riyadh and I am glad it was. It is free to visit and their is a lot of parking around the area. The place itself is very scenic and a beauty to the eye. Very peaceful. A great place to go for bbq's or even just a stroll with family and friends. I would definitely recommend checking it out if you haven't yet.

Wadi Namar Waterfall, nestled in the heart of Riyadh, is a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. This natural oasis, part of the Wadi Hanifah valley, offers a picturesque landscape that is a delight for nature lovers and photographers alike. The waterfall itself, powered by an electronic pump, cascades beautifully into a tranquil lake surrounded by lush greenery and palm trees. Visitors to Wadi Namar can enjoy a variety of activities. Families often gather for picnics on the grassy banks, while the more active can be seen cycling along the well-maintained paths or playing sports in the open areas. The presence of ducks and fish adds to the charm of the place, making it a perfect spot for children to explore and learn about nature. As the sun sets, the waterfall becomes even more enchanting. The lights around the promenade illuminate the water, creating a magical atmosphere that is both romantic and peaceful. It’s a popular spot for evening strolls and provides a stunning backdrop for memorable photographs. While Wadi Namar is a favorite among locals, especially on weekends, its beauty and tranquility make it a must-visit destination for tourists as well. With its free entry and 24-hour accessibility, it’s a convenient and delightful experience for anyone looking to enjoy Riyadh’s natural beauty.
