Description

If you are visiting Al-Baha, The Ain Ancient Village is worth a visit. The village of Thee Ainor Zee Ain is a heritage site in Saudi Arabia located in the Al-Mikhwat province of the Al-Baha Region. The remains of this civilization date back to the 16th century and have been characterized by the multi-storey houses that have been built with polished stones.

Sightseeing

The village is famous for its agricultural crops such as bananas, lemon, basil, and palm trees, and has a scenic river too. The best part about this historical place is that there is no entry fee and visitors can roam around and go back in time while exploring the ancient streets. Visitors can wander into the abandoned houses and take pictures without any worries as the place is not crowded. The houses are proof of the stunning architecture that existed even hundreds of years ago. There is also a farm called The Ain Garden at walking distance which is shaped like an eye. After the village tour, you can go to the farm and freshen up.

Tour Planning and Facilities

The village opens for tourists from 7am to 6 pm. Because there is a lot of walking and climbing involved, it is best to visit either in the winter or in the evening hours during the summer when the weather is not too hot. While restrooms and parking areas are available in the area, there are no shops, which is why it is best to take water and snacks along with you. There is also a park and seating area nearby, so families with children can rest easily.

A very good ancient village. A must visit for everyone with families or friends you will enjoy. The structure and beauty of the place is just beautiful. One less star because the place could have been maintained much better then it is now.

Worth a visit. Like all things in Saudi it's a work in progress, but if you're in the area, definitely worth a look. We're on a road trip from Riyadh and this was a must highlight according to the "Visit Saudi" website...i wouldn't say it's worth the trip but again,if there, sure. It's an old, well preserved village.you can wonder around the abandoned town, go inside the houses, and take all the pictures you want. It's clean (unlike most other places) and not crowded. No toilets on site, however, but a large parking lot.

The ancient village was beautiful. As someone who loves seeing historic places, the place was a wonderful way to get to know the ancient house layouts. This village was made 600 years ago. There were some locked houses, but many to explore in. The only request to the management is that the light coming from the outside of the window is the only source of light for us to look at the inside of the house. So please have some lights in the inside of the house for us to explore the houses freely. Overall, it was quite an amazing and worth-it place to explore!

Marvelous place. It is an ancient village that is completely made out of marble bricks. It was said to be 400 years old and still standing strong. It's a long way up to the top. In front there is green vegetation and on the right side down the village is a stream of water.

Such a beautiful location. Old heritage village with stream flowing at the back of hill watering the vegetation around. Peaceful location to spend a day, picnic place with wonderful park area and mosque. Mesmerizing view at night.

What is the best time of day for taking photographs of the village? The sunlight must be facing the front of the village. The sun must not be behind it or the images will look too dark. What time of day would that be?
