A Stain on the Soho House Brand I’ve stayed at every Soho House hotel (except for 2). A few years ago, Istanbul was the nicest Soho House club and hotel in the world, sadly, it is now the worst. Not worth the price, badly badly badly in need of a remodel and basic maintenance. The tone is set at the hotel the instant you arrive and look down at the main doormat, at least a year past due for replacement. The room was tired but acceptable; the real embarrassment comes in the common spaces, especially the gym. The fake wood floor is peeling away. The men’s showers are literally covered in black mold. The air conditioning in the men’s locker room is broken, the changing area is humid and 27-30 degrees. The paint is literally peeling from the ceiling from the humidity. And ironically the sauna is not very hot. The club side, for which I didn’t take pictures, per the rules, is an outlier in a sad way for the norms of this international private club. People are on their phones, everywhere, in front of the staff, and the staff does nothing to stop it. Shame. Even worse, people are taking pictures everywhere, I even saw a staff member taking a selfie and tagging it to Instagram. Felt more like an airport lounge than a private club where such behavior is not allowed. One of my local friends told me he long ago quit the club due to lack of privacy. A stark difference from the British and American chapters.

Everything was excellent, our stay really exceeded our expectations. The room was spacious, every detail was carefully thought. The mini bar section is beautiful and versatile. Free cookies that were waiting in our room made our 2-year old so super happy. The bed was super comfy. Our room was very quiet and had a small private terrace. Maybe it was a dark room because it was downstairs but we happily traded in light for quietness and comfort. Access to the Soho House club section was also great. The beautiful old palazzo, food and cocktails made our stay super fun. Thank you! Possibly the best hotel we stayed at in Istanbul, and we have tried a few!

Unnecessary stress at the entrance because of the security… even if you waiting for sm1 at the entrance and will enter together they ask you what are you waiting for and do you have a reservation or are you member of the soho … restaurants are not bad , but other sohos in other countries are much better then this one … It would be my 7th experience in Soho if services, especially security wasn’t rude …

A Historic building with beautiful architecture. The food was ok. I come here mostly for their vegan burger which is tasteful and filling and as well the truffled French fries. The salad was ok, not extraordinary. There’s an outside seating area surrounded by nature which gives the place a calm feeling. The service is so and so, It took long to make my order yet the waiters were just passing and looking…one of them even saw me coming in but he didn’t bother bringing the menu, Like bruh I’m here to eat not to watch ? p.s they have the best carrot x ginger juice.

I gave this hotel 5 stars back in 2019 and was excited to go back this summer for a longer stay. We got married in Istanbul and decided to stay at the Soho House after our wedding to rest and relax before going back home. I was disappointed to find out that the pool on the rooftop was closed due to a license issue. In addition, I was not impressed with the massage and facial I had at Cowshed. We also paid almost twice as much (in euro’s!) for the same room compared to 2019. The guest profile seems to have changed as well, with more Arabs staying here now whereas during our first stay there were more Western guests at the hotel. Dinner at Cecconi’s was lovely as always but you do not need to stay at the hotel to eat here. Apheleia, the new terrace restaurant at the club, was a pleasant surprise. The hotel is still beautiful inside and out and the staff is professional and friendly. However, unfortunately I don’t think you get what you pay for anymore.
