Qanona Valley - Al Bahah Province

4.3Reviews

Description

Valley Qanona or Wadi Qununa is a state park within the Makah region in Saudi Arabia. It is one of the largest valleys in Southern Saudi Arabia and is 108 km long. The valley is diverse in its agricultural crops, which include wheat, millet, and sesame, and is especially famous for palm cultivation.

Location

The exact location of the valley cannot be found on Google Maps, and finding the entrance to it can be tricky. The road is not very clear or clean, and there are obstacles. At certain points, the road is blocked with trees and grass, which is why a 4x4 is recommended.

Landscape

There is a natural lake inside the wadi as well, which makes it a good spot for picnics. Inside the valley, it is peaceful and quiet with the soothing sound of sloshing water and different kinds of birds. Going to the valley in summer is not ideal because of the hot and humid weather at that time. On the other hand, in winters and spring, the weather is ideal for a day trip and makes for an ideal spot for a relaxing outdoor picnic with family.

A very beautiful valley, but no care was found for anything, as there are no umbrellas to sit in or around it, or toilets, and poisonous American ladder trees began to spread in it, which are not eaten by animals and drain the water in the valley. They neglected their farms that are on the banks of the valley, which led to the interruption of what is called the falaj, which caused the death of palm trees, which were incredibly abundant, and they lived on the bounties of this valley, its people, and most of the neighboring tribes, and now its farms have become deserted without cultivation, except for very little.

Wrong Location

Qanuna Valley is NOT in Al-Baha province, as stated in the title of this article. It is located in Makkah province, as stated in the body of the article. Makkah and Al-Baha are separate provinces of Saudi Arabia.
