Description

Located in Jubbah, around 100 km from Hail, Saudi Arabia, Umm Senman Mountain is one of the most prominent archeological sites in the region. This mountain is famous for the drawings and inscriptions that have been engraved on it. According to archeologists, these engravings date back to 7000 BC.

Landscape

The mountain gets its name ‘Umm Senman’ from its unique appearance, which resembles a camel with two humps. Surrounded by sand dunes, it is situated in the middle of the Nafud desert and spreads over an area of 40 km sq. There are almost 2000 animal drawings on this mountain, including 262 drawings of human beings. The most popular and clearly visible out of these drawings is that of a lion.

History

According to some historians, these inscriptions are from different historical eras, some of which are also Thamudic (when the people of Thamud roamed the land). The large human figures with ambiguous faces represent the Neolithic age, whereas the Chalcolithic age can be traced through goat and animal drawings.

Some of the drawings also date back to the Iron Age, which includes drawings of warriors with their bayonets, along with leopards, ostriches, and palm trees. Last but not least are the famous drawings of horses pulling carts that date back to the third millennium BC or even earlier. All and all, this archeological site is a history buff’s dream place where they can find references to virtually every significant historical era in the Arabian peninsula

The place is beautiful and interesting, and the city, even if it was small, is tidy, but the site unfortunately refused to enter me because it was waiting for an increase, I felt it was drained But, I hope that he is in more interest, and a comprehensive system and information

The place, the effects and the graphics, everything is wonderful, but all the sites are closed. We could not see anything even though we arrived early in time and we know that it closes Q3
