Green Mountain - Abha

Green Mountain is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Abha, Saudi Arabia, and a must-visit site for people visiting the city. It was initially used as military headquarters because of its strategic location and was later turned into a tourist destination.

Landscape and activities

Named after the green lights and grass that cover it, the mountain is called ‘Jabal Thera’.The mountain also has a wonderful climate, especially in a country like Saudi Arabia where the desert heat can get unbearable. It features many facilities for visitors such as restaurants, coffee shops, and an internet cafe. Because of the chilly weather, hot drinks are all the rage among visitors, especially at night when it gets really cold. 

The mountain is open for visitors after 2 pm every day, who have to buy an entrance ticket that costs 20 riyals. The good thing about this entrance fee is that you can redeem your money at any of the restaurants to pay for your meal. 

You can either hike to the top of the mountain or take a cable car to the mountain park and take in the breathtaking scenic beauty of the valley. The cable car ride becomes even better at night when the entire city lights up and makes for an enchanting sight.
