4.5Reviews

Description

Al Qarah Mountain, which is also known as "Jabal al Qarah" and "Al Shaban Mountain," is located in the Eastern Province, Al Ahsa, in Saudi Arabia and is a UNESCO world heritage site.

The caves

Al Qarah Mountain is known for its fascinating and unique caves that were formed due to the dissolving process of water-soluble rocks, the collapse of the upper rock layers as a result of abrasion, and earthquake fissures.

Some of the caves in the Al Qarah Mountain are particularly famous, like the Al Nashab cave, which has moderately steady temperatures throughout the year. Some caves are also used to hold workshops for local traditional potters. The caves have 28 tall linear passageways, which are a total of 1.5 kilometers in length.

Some of the most famous caves in the mountain include Bu Saleh, Al Eid, An Naqa, Al Mua'adhamah, and Al Maheub. Locals and tourists love to visit to admire the incredible heritage site and learn about the history by exploring the caves with tour guides.

Amazing landscape. Feels like the world of Indiana jones. Also called as Land of civilisation. If driving follow signs for Al Qahra mountains. Opens quite early 8am even on weekends. If you want photographs without crowds everywhere, reach early. It had been decorated quite well by the tourism dept. Plenty of parking and food places within compound.

Must visit place me and my family really enjoyed the cave experience. The natural structure looks beautiful and the restaurants out there is good to try. Over all it was a 10/10 visit.

A natural wonder, adapted to tourism. A must visit. Best time to visit is November to March. No guided tour unless arranged. Wonderful sights.

This place was pretty unknown few years back and the caves were accessible in their natural form for adventure seekers. Now they have built it as a tourist spot adding lights, some artificial structures, shops etc. So it is now more family friendly and easily accessible but the original charm of the place is lost. The ticket price is also high but still a must visit place if you are in the area
