4.5Reviews

Description

Al Qarah Mountain, which is also known as "Jabal al Qarah" and "Al Shaban Mountain," is located in the Eastern Province, Al Ahsa, in Saudi Arabia and is a UNESCO world heritage site.

The caves

Al Qarah Mountain is known for its fascinating and unique caves that were formed due to the dissolving process of water-soluble rocks, the collapse of the upper rock layers as a result of abrasion, and earthquake fissures.

Some of the caves in the Al Qarah Mountain are particularly famous, like the Al Nashab cave, which has moderately steady temperatures throughout the year. Some caves are also used to hold workshops for local traditional potters. The caves have 28 tall linear passageways, which are a total of 1.5 kilometers in length.

Some of the most famous caves in the mountain include Bu Saleh, Al Eid, An Naqa, Al Mua'adhamah, and Al Maheub. Locals and tourists love to visit to admire the incredible heritage site and learn about the history by exploring the caves with tour guides.

Good nature made small mountain. However additional safety precaution shall be implemented to protect the place and visitors . Entrence fees slightly hight for fast visit ( 50 SR per person in holiday ) One downgrade: rock look like spayed by sort of soil retaining material and floor tiled loosing the natural beauty of the rock

It was a nice experience to visit land of civilizations, but at the time we went it was crowded with so narrow passes in the cave that doesn't respect the 2 meters distance between people. They should consider more safety measures. Plus the tickets were a bit expensive (50 SAR per person).
