This is an honest review of Taiba Suites Madinah. I will first start with the positives. The location of this hotel is amazing, the back entrance is literally 15 feet from the entrance of the Prophet’s Mosque. I also loved all the new renovations that have been done to the room. The rooms have a very modern and luxurious feel. Ahmed at the front reception was very kind and respectful upon check-in. I like the fact that your room has its own washing machine, stove top for cooking meals, and an espresso machine. There are a ton of food options and shops within a 1 min walk from this hotel. Now, I will talk about the issues that we faced and how they can be improved.
1) Perhaps the biggest complaint is the service, like other guests mentioned. We paid a premium to stay at this hotel ($400 usd/night) however the service is severely lacking. It took almost 3 days before someone came into our room to clean and empty trash cans. This is unacceptable for the amount of money that is being charged per night. If staffing is an issue, hotel management should hire more staff to service the guests rooms
2) We faced many inconveniences during our short 3 day stay. For example, there was no wifi in our rooms. How can a hotel that charges $400/night not offer wifi?! This is unheard of. Thankfully, we had our hotspot devices, however, this could be a major problem for a guest who does not have these devices handy.
3) Another inconvenience we faced was that our key cards randomly stopped working after the first day. Even after we went to the reception desk and asked them for new cards, those cards stopped working after a few hours. So, we had to leave our doors unlocked so we can enter and exit our rooms. This is a major security issue and should not happen at a hotel that is charging $400/night
3) The drain in one of the showers was completely blocked to the point where you could not shower for more than 5 minutes without the water overflowing. I tried calling the front desk from the bathroom phone and got nothing but a busy tone. Thankfully, I am familiar with home repair, and I was able to get the issue resolved myself. But why am I having to work on fixing hotel issues when I’m paying a premium to stay at this hotel?!
4) We also did not like the fact that they charge you extra for parking. This should absolutely be included in the nightly rate. Again, the rate was about $400/night. Why is parking not included?
All in all, we did enjoy our stay at this hotel because we loved waking up to the view of the Prophet’s Mosque right in front of our window. We are not ones to complain, especially being in such a spiritually peaceful place such as Medina. However, the management of this hotel needs to do a better job of catering to their guests. I highly recommend hiring more staff because for the size of this hotel, there are definitely not enough workers present. That was perhaps the biggest complaint I have. When you pay a premium to stay at a hotel, you expect your issues to be resolved quickly. It is not okay to make your guests wait 1-2 days to fix minor issues. If you are not able to properly cater to your guests, you should decrease the amount of money that you are charging guests. I probably would not pay more than $200/night considering the service we received here
