Situé à Jubbah, à environ 100 km de Hail, en Arabie saoudite, le mont Umm Senman est l'un des sites archéologiques les plus importants de la région. Cette montagne est célèbre pour les dessins et les inscriptions qui y ont été gravés. Selon les archéologues, ces gravures dateraient de 7000 av.

Paysage

La montagne tire son nom de « Umm Senman » de son apparence unique, qui ressemble à un chameau à deux bosses. Entouré de dunes de sable, il est situé au milieu du désert de Nafud et s'étend sur une superficie de 40 km². Il y a près de 2000 dessins d'animaux sur cette montagne, dont 262 dessins d'êtres humains. Le plus populaire et le plus clairement visible de ces dessins est celui d'un lion.

Histoire

Selon certains historiens, ces inscriptions datent de différentes époques historiques, dont certaines sont également thamudiques (lorsque les habitants de Thamud parcouraient le pays). Les grandes figures humaines aux visages ambigus représentent l'âge néolithique, tandis que l'âge chalcolithique peut être retracé à travers des dessins de chèvres et d'animaux.

Certains des dessins remontent également à l'âge du fer, qui comprend des dessins de guerriers avec leurs baïonnettes, ainsi que des léopards, des autruches et des palmiers. Enfin, les célèbres dessins de chevaux tirant des charrettes remontent au troisième millénaire avant JC ou même avant. Dans l'ensemble, ce site archéologique est le lieu de rêve des passionnés d'histoire où ils peuvent trouver des références à pratiquement toutes les époques historiques importantes de la péninsule arabique.

It is noteworthy that the site of Jabal Umm Sinman was registered among the World Heritage Sites in (UNESCO) for the year 2015 AD.
