The location is close to the haram. I did not find the climb too unbearable, as others have mentioned . I feel like it could be a decent hotel. But it does have some serious short comings that make it otherwise..
1- the staff WILL not clean your room unless you tip them.. thats a first for me. And they'll come to your room multiple time with water bottles , just standing there, like you owe them something.. EDIT we told the man in the hallway NOT to wake us when we seen him, as we were about to enter our room and were very tired from our second umrah. About 15min later he was ringing our bell and woke us both up... this is 2 times we've been woken while asleep..
2- rooms are iffy. Lots of damage to our room, it looks as if it's falling apart. And the A/C does not function. The room is tiny... for the price we payed per night. I'm astounded how small it is. There is no room to move around.... seems like they have not changed our sheets in the 5 days we've stayed..
3-the breakfast buffet does not have adequate seating, and it's far too small to accommodate the guests staying at this hotel. So get ready to stand or wait for a table.. otherwise the selection is respectable.
4- this hotel is right on a major road it seems... so your chances of getting hit by a taxi is very high... I don't think it's a good design.
5- very expensive hotel room service and the food was absolutely horrible. We tried it once and it's awful, we heard the same from others in our group.
6- the staff had sprayed something in the front lobby that had caused multiple guests to cough and nearly choke. About a dozen people ran out of the lobby ... now a day later 5 of us are with sore throat.
Overall, I would not come back to this hotel. Nor would I recommend it to anyone I know. I'm saddened to have known others are at the Hyatt for the same price, with much better accommodations.
