Plan to climb it at early morning to avoid the heat. Historic place, worth the visit. Do carry enough water.

The hiking trail is about 1.40 km. It will take you 70- 150 minutes to go up and down, depends on your health condition and fitness level. The trail with steps built all the way to the top. The steps are uneven and can be slippery. Wear comfortable clothes and sport shoes. There are stands that sell water and lemonade on the trail, so bring cash. I visited Jabal Alnour on August, and it was extremely hot and highly trafficked. The summit shows views of the Al masjid al Haram and of Mecca city. This is a holy place where the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) went to meditate and is also where the Holy Quran was first revealed to him. It is very sad seeing litter everywhere on the mountain. It is NOT OKAY to throw rubbish anywhere, so PLEASE bring a bag with you to use for your trash and keep it with you until you find a trashcan to throw it.

Garh e Hira (Hira cave), where the holy Quran was revealed, is in this hill(Jabal al Noor). It's around 2500+ feet high, and you need to climb stairs of around 750 to reach the spot. Before you go to this place, please keep the following points in mind: 1. It's a steep and physically exhaustive climb. 2. Motorable road is present a little above the foot of the hill. Rest journey is to be made on own. 3. Take light food and 2-3 bottles of water or juice. 4. Take frequent breaks. 5. There is no arrangements for wudu (ablution) on the climb zone. 6. Pray 2 rakat Nafal at the cave briefly, as there will be a lot of people waiting for their turn. Avoid making namaz or dua long. 7. If possible, try to make the climb during noon, at this time, although a bit hot, there is less rush
