One of the museums in Makkah Al-Mukarramah region Work began on the construction of this palace of the Museum of Mecca in 1365 AH 1946 by order of King Abdulaziz, and it took seven years to build the palace, where work was completed in 1372 AH 1952, and he used a period of time as a guesthouse and then granted in 1378 AH to the Ministry of Education At that time, which transformed it to be the headquarters of Al-Zahir Intermediate School, and it re-employed its rooms and halls to classrooms, and its use continued until the year 1398 AH, then the building was handed over to the Antiquities and Museums Agency, where the agency undertook a comprehensive restoration and return it to the architectural condition it was in. The area of the palace is 3425 square meters Spread over a front yard with an area of 1200 square meters and the main building of the palace with an area of 1000 square meters, and a back attachment of 425 square meters and the rest of the spaces occupied by roads and corridors around the palace, the agency has employed the palace as a museum of antiquities and heritage in Makkah to serve the heritage of Saudi Arabia and its history and civilization in general and Mecca on Degree of specialization.
