Had the opportunity to visit Tokyo Japanese Restaurant at Urubah Road, Riyadh, in August. According to it's website, this restaurant won the BestLuxury Japanese Restaurant Award 2021 for Middle East... hence, we had high hopes.
Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Our server, Abdulrahman even told us what brand of soya sauce Tokyo uses, probably after seeing me slurping it from the sauce plate...I have this thing about soya sauce, and the best in my opinion is Shibanuma. Let me know what you think. Anyhow, Abdulrahman went and asked the kitchen staff, and proudly declared to us that the restaurant uses Kikkoman.
Ordered the beef ramen, chicken miso ramen and spicy & sweet beef tenderloin as mains, plus some other sides. When we first dined at this restaurant in 2022, my wife said the beef ramen was the best she ever had. This time round, the ramen was not as tasty as we remembered (tasted much better after we added a dash of Kikkoman), the beef was tender and juicy.
We typically don't order the cocktails, but when we had the muskmelon cooler, the Fuji breeze and the Wabi, we realized the cocktails were stars in their own right.
Fairly reasonable in cost, and will happily come back again if we are in Riyadh.
