Descripción

Masjid ShuhadaUhud es una famosa mezquita situada a solo 10 minutos en coche de Al Masjid Nabawi en Medina. Esta mezquita ocupa un lugar sagrado en el Islam y atrae a muchos visitantes cada año.

Historia islámica

La mezquita es considerada un hito histórico vital por los musulmanes, ya que aquí es donde tuvo lugar una batalla muy importante en el Islam, la batalla de Uhud. Los seguidores de Muhammad (la paz sea con él) que lucharon con él en la batalla de Uhud están enterrados junto a la mezquita. Entre ellos se encuentra Hazrat Ḥamzahibn Abd al-Muṭṭalib, quien fue compañero y querido tío del Profeta. Está enterrado cerca del monte Uhud en el cementerio de los mártires de Uhad.

Los peregrinos vienen a presentar sus respetos a los mártires, especialmente durante el mes de Ramadán. Parados en la famosa colina de Archer, los musulmanes experimentan un despertar espiritual y pueden retroceder en el tiempo, imaginando la batalla que ocurre frente a ellos.

Diseño

Formada por piedras blancas, esta mezquita tiene una cúpula y dos minaretes. Desde el sur, la mezquita está parcialmente oculta por Jabal Ramah, mientras que el monte Uhud se puede ver claramente detrás de la mezquita.

Una mezcla de arquitectura tradicional y moderna, Masjid Shuhada Uhud es la mezquita más grande de la ciudad después de Masjid anNabawi. Puede albergar hasta 15.000 fieles a la vez. Por la noche, la mezquita blanca parece emanar luz de su estructura de alabastro. Siete mezquitas más pequeñas también se encuentran en las cercanías.

Instalaciones

La mezquita tiene un bloque administrativo que tiene estaciones de wudhu instaladas para los peregrinos con instalaciones especiales para personas con discapacidad. Hay un pequeño mercado cerca de la mezquita que es famoso por sus alfombras y dátiles. Las personas que visiten la mezquita deben probar los dátiles frescos que se venden a un precio más barato después de la oración de Asar.

The Battle of Uhud was a major engagement between early Muslims and the Quraysh during the Muslim-Quraysh War. Their chief, Abu Sufyan, then set out for Medina with 3,000 troops to confront Muhammad.[12] The early phase of the fighting saw the Muslims gaining the initiative. The Quraysh vanguard began faltering and retreated, leaving their camps vulnerable. However when Muslim victory seemed near, the Muslim rear guard who were tasked to defend a hill to protect against a possible encirclement, abandoned their positions to collect spoils of war left by the fleeing enemy. This turn of events was exploited by the Quraysh general Khalid ibn al-Walid who launched a daring cavalry strike in the undefended rear and encircled the Muslims, thus turning the tide of battle. The battle was seen as a significant setback for the Muslims and a minor victory for the Quraysh as they would return with an even larger force in the Battle of the Trench.

I recently had the incredible opportunity to visit the Al Shuhada Mosque in Uhud, Madinah, and I must say that it was a truly awe-inspiring experience. The mosque itself is a stunning architectural masterpiece, with its grand domes and intricate designs. This sacred site holds great importance as it marks the final resting place for many martyrs who bravely fought alongside Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during the Battle of Uhud. Standing in their presence evoked a profound sense of gratitude and admiration for their sacrifice. In conclusion, my visit to Al Shuhada Mosque in Uhud, Madinah, was a truly enriching and soul-stirring experience. This Masjid is considered a vital historic landmark by Muslims as this is where a very major battle in Islam, the battle of Uhud, took place. There has an administrative block, ablution/wudhu place installed for the pilgrims with special facilities for people with disabilities. There is a small market near the mosque which is famous for its carpets, dates, souvenirs, ice cream etc. Pilgrims or tourist visiting the Masjid should try the fresh dates that are sold at a cheaper price after Asar Prayer. InshaAllah, will come back again.
