I have been a diamond member with Hilton for over 8 years and have stayed at several of their brands. All their hotels around the world are amazing in general. However, I did not have a good experience at this particular DoubleTree hotel. The rooms are great and way cleaner than expected. The service isn’t as good though. I have a flexible booking and was set to arrive at 7pm. Check is usually at 3pm. They emailed me in the morning before even flying to Riyadh asking me to pay the full amount of the reservation or they will cancel my rooms. Their excuse was that they have overbooked the hotel which is not my problem at all. Several emails back and forth, they finally caved in and shut up. Then at check out they ask me to pay 2000 riyals more (~$600) for “extra” on the room at a time I had a coffee downstairs. Then they told me it is for extra room charge. They upgraded me, which I am entitled to as a Diamond member, but then they wanted to charge me the difference. Never seen such unprofessionalism.
