アルハサのオアシスの北東70kmにあるウケアビーチに位置するアクエア城は、サウジアラビアのイスラム起源の古代の要塞です。砦が実際に何歳かはまだ不明です。一部の人々は、ギリシャとローマの情報源で言及された古代都市ゲラに砦をリンクしました。
歴史と建築
砦は少なくとも300年前と推定されており、誰が実際に建設したかは不明ですが、現在サウジアラビアとして知られているものを征服するためにアブドゥルアジズ王を迎えたことが最も一般的に知られています。城の内部には、片側の中庭に巨大な柱が立っており、反対側には小さな部屋が建てられています。
砦は泥レンガで覆われた石の城壁で強化されています。アーチ型の入り口、大きくて狭い木製の窓、アーチ型の石の床があります。砦に隣接してオスマン帝国時代の市場もありますが、砦の反対側には、アラビア半島で最初の港の1つであると考えられている古代の港の名残があります。

Uqair/Aqeer Palace.
Uqair (Arabic:عقير) is an ancient fort of Islamic origin, located in the Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. It is the first seaport in the Persian Gulf. It is alternatively spelled Al-'Uqair, Uqayr, and Ogair, all Latin transliterations of the same Arabic word. It has been linked by some to the ancient city of Gerrha mentioned in Greek and Roman sources. The site was also the location of the conference at which the Uqair Protocol of 1922 was issued, which helped to establish the borders of modern Saudi Arabia.

Market during Ottoman Era, this place is so well preserved that it will actually take's one back during those ancient times. Though lack of any store or washrooms is a negative. As per a local guide, it was a port and later, Late King Abdul Aziz built a fort by it's side for official use
