I was extremely disappointed with the service at this hotel. Despite the stunning views, the staff’s attitude was deeply poor. We arrived for dinner at 9:10 PM, expecting it to end at 9:30 PM as advertised (photo attached). However, the staff informed us it ended at 9:00 PM and offered no solution. They didn’t deny the incorrect information but shrugged it off with "it is what it is." There was no apology or concern for our complaint. After a long day of walking in the sun, the only option given was a frozen sandwich, which is unacceptable for a hotel charging $350 per night. It feels like they are taking advantage of the protected area location, assuming tourists will come no matter what. Better service and basic hospitality are needed here.

The hotel is situated on a fantastic location on a rim overlooking parts of Monument Valley. The absolute Best views ever!!!!!! Very nice rooms with beautiful bathrooms. Wonderful colors and gorgeous paintings and pictures. Beds are sooooo comfortable!!! Each balcony overlooks parts of the Monument Valley. On the not such positive note we found the hotel extremely pricey for what we were offered. Paper thin walls where you could literally hear what the guests next door where saying to each other. The room price included breakfast. For the high room price you would expect real silverware, scrambled eggs, bacon, hardy items to put on your bread and fresh juices. No such thing!!! No scrambled eggs, no bacon, no eggs made to your choice, no selection of cheese and meats to put on your bread. Only mini pancakes, gritts and sausage (??? Strange combination) as hot dishes. No fresh juices. And to top it of, plastic utensils. As a supposedly "green" hotel plastic silverware in our eyes is a no go!!! Although dinner was tasty there was not much choice and again it is expensive. On the second night I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and had to pay 16,99 US dollars for 2 simple slices of toast with a bit of cheese in between. Very simple and plain. A very small portion for an absurd price. My coke was 5,99 $ and ice tea the night prior was 4,99 $. On both nights no refill was offered....... During breakfast and dinner all employees were very grumpy and seemed not to be happy to be employed there. The receptionist at check in was very friendly as was the crew in the shop. All in all a very expensive experience for what was offered. We have had much better service and very much better breakfasts in hotels that were half the price of the 299 US Dollars per room per night which was what we paid. And this price wasn't a last minute price either as we booked almost 6 months in advance........ In short we were expecting more for the price we paid.

We visited in mid-April. We stayed in a premium cabin and it did not disappoint. It had everything we needed. It’s a really nice set up. The view of Monument Valley was absolutely amazing right from our porch. Sunset and sunrise you should not miss as both are so gorgeous! The stars at night were wonderful from our porch as well. It was also a 20min drive to Forrest Gump Hill where we saw even more stars! Indescribably beautiful. Hiking the Wildcat Trail was extremely enjoyable. The trail was clean, well marked and had places to rest. We are thankful to the Navajo for sharing this with us. Worth every penny. Checking-in was slightly chaotic as you also enter in the same area where tourists are paying for the scenic drive. The entrance fee was credit card only the day we entered and if staying in the cabins you need to check-in at the campground, not the hotel. Limited vegetarian/vegan options so plan in advance. The souvenir shop is reasonably priced. Everything at the hotel was credit card only while we were there. The jewelry and artwork portion is very expensive, but it is handmade crafts and makes sense. We wish we would have known ahead of time and could have budgeted to spend more to support the artists. We hope to visit again someday.

Internet didn’t work at all. Paper thin walls. Shower was cold, and the way I was treated by the restaurant staff completely destroyed any excitement I had for this part of my trip. The staff were beyond unkind. There was almost an enjoyment in messing with visitors by causing issues, completely unprovoked. What happened to me destroyed my ability to enjoy this part of my trip and weighed on me for a few days. Aside from my experience, the place and everything in it is incredibly overpriced. When you check in, they give you a $20 coupon to use in their gift shop. Don’t let it fool you. It’s only for very specific and overpriced products. Enjoy spending $10 on a magnet. The restaurant is also the only place accessible to eat for many miles and the quality of the food is bad. You’re going to wait a long time and pay a lot for something they probably threw in the microwave. The sunrise was extremely mediocre when I went. It was cloudy so nothing spectacular. If you are really wanting to see the view, skip this hotel. You don’t have to spend a penny to watch the sunset. There is a section you can’t miss just before the hotel, where people come to watch the sunset for free. During the day you can also do a drive (not sure if it costs money) but we drove through without issues. It’s directly to the left of the hotel. It’s a dirt road that is very long and rough but you can get views of the structures up close.

As its name suggests this hotel brings in the guests for one reason alone - the jaw dropping views. Unfortunately, it seems management has decided guests will be so happy with their views that food quality and customer service aren’t things they need to worry about. The breakfast was ordinary at best. One needed a hammer to get through the rock hard pancakes, and all three large warming trays were empty so I’m not entirely sure what heated options I missed out on. We were there at 9.20am, well before breakfast hours closed at 10.00am. The urn was also empty at 9.45am, and when a guest asked for it to be filled, the staff member looked at her watch, sighed, and reluctantly agreed to do so. On the positive side, the rooms are very well sized (we stayed in a queen double on the second floor), and generously appointed. The microwave and fridge were handy, as was the coffee maker. And then there’s the views. The hotel has been cleverly designed to take full advantage of the views on offer, with the lobby, restaurant and trading post all offering spectacular vistas. An important note: although the hotel address is Arizona, the hotel operates on Utah time (at the time of visit Mountain Daylight Savings). Would I stay here again? Yes. Pay for the views and great rooms, but don’t eat here if you can help it. We grabbed food at Goulding’s and it was pretty decent. And that microwave affords plenty of heat and eat opportunities if you want to save a few pennies!
