تقع على بعد حوالي 250 كيلومتر من مدينة الطائف ، على الطرف الغربي من هضبة حرة الكشب في منطقة مكة المكرمة ، تعد الوعبة من العجائب الطبيعية الفريدة من نوعها ببنيتها المجوفة وبحيرتها غير الشفافة في الوسط. يبلغ عمقها 250 متراً وقطرها كيلومترين، وتشتهر باسم مقلع طمية.

السياحة

كانت رحلة النزول إلى أسفل فوهة الوعبة صعبة للغاية وكان الصعود مرة أخرى يمثل تحدياً مضاعفاً نظراً لمدى انحدار الحفرة وانزلاقها. على مدار السنوات القليلة الماضية ، تم تعديله لجعله مكانًا مناسبًا للسياح من خلال بناء جدار حجري ومسار ومسجد في نهاية طريق المدخل وكبائن للنزهات حول الفوهة.

النزول إلى القاع

رغم انه جميل من الاعلى ، فإن العجائب الحقيقية هي في قاع الفوهة. فعندما تدخل الفوهة من الممر الشمالي ، ترى بلورات فوسفات الصوديوم البيضاء التي تشكل قشرة جميلة متلألئة في المركز. يمكن أن تستغرق الرحلة إلى القاع حوالي 45 إلى 50 دقيقة ، لكن كل ثانية منها تستحق العناء وأنت تتعمق أكثر فأكثر في قلب هذه الأعجوبة الطبيعية المذهلة.

عندما تهطل بعض الأمطار على المنطقة ، فإنها تتحول إلى بحيرة لؤلؤية ، جنباً إلى جنب مع النباتات الخضراء على حافة المركز، مما يجعلها مشهداً رائعاً. في حين أن الصحراء حول الفوهة قاحلة، يوجد في الفوهة نفسها أشجار النخيل والشجيرات الجميلة. يمكن رؤية حقل الحمم البركانية الجافة أيضًا على الحافة الشمالية للجوف.

Awesome place to visit. View point is available to have a view of this beautiful crater. You can go down to click pics but mind your foot, the small stones are slippery. Make sure to wear a good shoe. Localites say it's not volcanic crater, but formed by s falling meteor.

The location is awesome for taking photos, spending few hours or camping, but you should bring your needs with you cos no any services out there, no toilets, no water, nothing available.. You can go there by normal sedan car, no need for SUV

It takes a person 45–60 minutes to go to the bottom of the crater. This crater is very slippery and it is hard for people to come up to the surface. To climb back up takes approx 60–90 minutes. There is some mobile phone signal within the crater, and the site receives very few visitors, even over weekends. As of April 2017, there has been upgrades to the park. A stone wall has been erected about 1/4 to 1/3 of the crater rim from the northwest to southwest. There is a mosque at the end of the entrance road. There are also upgraded picnic shelters around the rim.

A must visit in your lifetime. This is a volcanic crater, about 820ft deep, that white patch you see at the bottom is sodium phosphate. A big NO on taking kids here. No to aged people as well. If you have breathing issues No. you must be perfectly healthy to do this trek. We visited in the month of June, which is summer. We started early morning at 3am from Taif. Reached by 6am. We started climbing down by 6.30 and reached at the bottom at 7.30. By 8am we started climbing back and reached at the top by 9. Well climbing back was difficult as at the bottom there is really less oxygen and you have to breath heavy. Based on my experience reach there early morning be by 5 and start trekking. Remember there is no shops are houses around for any assistance or medical help. So carry lots of water.
