It's closed indefinitely. I went with a Saudi... The security told him he could go in, but I could not. So we decided not to go at all. I drove six hours to see this place, and was unable to see it. Whatever. I will not come back.

Still closed. Police turned us away. Even the side streets had signs of closure. One day it may be a very nice place to visit. Al Ula will probably get more attention so I don't see this happening too soon.
