La description

The Al Madinah Museum, also known as the Hejaz Railway Museum is one of the must visit museums in the Blessed City of Madinah. It is located on the grounds of the historic Ottoman railway station that originally connected Damascus to Madinah between 1906-1920.  The entry to the museum is currently free.

The current museum opened in 2006 to the pubic and is dedicated to the history of the City of Madinah during the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammed, Peace & Blessings of God Be Upon Him (PBUH) until the current day. The museum is a treasure trove of artefacts of Islamic history and the region of Madinah.

The museum showcases the real bow of the Blessed Companion, Saad Ibn Abi Waqas, may God be pleased with him (RA) who fought vigorously during the Battle of Uhud in defence of The Beloved Prophet (PBUH).  Ali (RA) reported: I never saw the Prophet (PBUH) ask that his parents be sacrificed for anyone after Sa‘d. I heard him say: 'Shoot your arrow, may my mother and father be sacrificed for you.' [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

The muesum also showcases Byzantine Gold dinars that were used in Madinah during the time of The Prophet (PBUH) and several stone inscriptions of The Holy Quran from earlier generations, which have been preserved.  The Hejaz Railway Museum is located close to Al Masjid Nabawi and is definetly worth a visit along with the Dar Al Madinah Museum if you are visitng Madinah.

Note: The Hejaz (Hijaz) RailwayMuesum is open daily between 9am - 10pm but is closed between 4pm-5pm daily and opens after 5pm on Fridays.

A true gem of a museum of Islamic history! If you come to Medina for tourism or Umrah, if you are lucky and have a chance come to this Museum. I was able to visit here. The museum contains historically very old important Islamic artifacts, letters, pictures and different pieces of historical timelines. It's probably the most important and worthwhile Islamic museum there is in the World. It's free as well.

Hejaz Railway Museum is an excellent tourist attraction which is the restoration of the old Ottoman railway station. Opened in 2006, this museum has a grandiose platform that will teleport you to the Ottoman empire times. You must visit the exhibition on the Prophet’s life and take in facts about the artifacts and relics from Medina. It will feel awe-inspiring to know about how people lived prior to and post Islam besides it will also put the Islamic history and culture into perspective.

Hejaz Railway Station in Medina, Saudi Arabia, is a captivating historical landmark that offers visitors a glimpse into the region's rich history and the evolution of transportation in the Arabian Peninsula. Stepping into the Hejaz Railway Station feels like taking a journey back in time. The station's architecture is a beautiful blend of traditional Arabian design and functional railway infrastructure. Visitors can explore the station's museum, which houses a collection of artifacts, photographs, and exhibits that provide insights into the construction and operation of the Hejaz Railway. The museum effectively narrates the challenges faced during its construction, making it an educational experience for history enthusiasts. However, it's important to note that the Hejaz Railway Station is not just a relic of the past. It serves as a reminder of the region's enduring commitment to its cultural heritage and its role in the global history of transportation.

This old railway station recollects you of the glorious history of Ottoman Empire. Its abundant exhibition is very knowledgeable. It’s magnificent to spend a couple of hours lingering in the back yard where there are old train carriages you can shoot.
