Introduction to King Abdullah Financial District, KAFD

King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) is a world-class financial hub that was named after King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, who ruled Saudi Arabia from 2005 to 2015. The project was launched in 2006 with the aim of creating a modern and sustainable financial center that will fulfill the requirements of the expansion of Riyadh while also massively boosting its economy. 

The project was acquired by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and continues to be at the center stage of Vision 2030. The district offers residents and visitors a high standard of living with its modern buildings, green spaces, and a variety of world class amenities and services, including shopping centers, restaurants, parks, sports facilities, and schools. You cannot miss the beauty and breathtaking scale of the King Abdullah Financial District if you visit Riyadh. KAFD consists of over 60 futuristic towers including the PIF Tower, which is the tallest and stands at 385m as well as the KAFD World Trade Centre which stands at 304.

The master plan for KAFD was designed by the Danish architect firm Henning Larsen architects and several international firms including Foster + Partners were commissioned to design individual buildings.

KAFD is a thriving urban community that offers visitors and residents a high standard of living. Situated in the Al Aqeeq area of Riyadh, the district features modern buildings, including office towers, residential buildings, hotels, shopping centers, and green spaces such as parks and gardens that provide a refreshing escape from the city.

Planned as A City of The Future

KAFD is also designed with sustainability in mind, with energy-efficient buildings and a comprehensive waste management system to minimize its impact on the environment.

It spans an area of 1.6 million square meters and also includes 62,000 parking spaces. An automated monorail for the district is also being developed by Bombardier Inc.

Upon completion, the district is set to house over 50,000 residents. Special care has been taken to mitigate the high temperatures of the region and cooling systems have been installed on the passenger bridges that will connect the buildings together.
