Description

Built on the shore of the Red sea, Jeddah Island Mosque is one of the famed mosques of Saudi Arabia.

Landscape

Jeddah Island Mosque is also known as the floating mosque as it is built on the Jeddah seashore, where half of its structure seems to be suspended above the water. The mosque attracts worshippers not just because of its status as a mosque, but also because of the wonderful view it offers. When the tide is high, the mosque looks like it is hovering above the waves. Located on the Jeddah corniche, the structure of the Island Mosque accentuates the Jeddah landscape. Surrounded by palm trees, the white mosque truly looks like a work of art. The waves of the blue sea water crashing on the mosque and rocky shore makes for a beautiful place to go on a walk while enjoying the sea view. The sight is especially mesmerizing at dawn and after Asar prayers as the rays of the sun bounce off the waves.

Structure of the Mosque and Facilities

The mosque has arched windows, providing a panoramic view of the Red Sea. From the inside, the walls of the mosque are decorated with Islamic art. Visitors wander in the mosque’s courtyard, marvel at its marbled elegance and enjoy the sea breeze while paddling in the shallow water.

The mosque has a separate praying area for women and well-maintained ablution facilities. People visiting the mosque can also stop by the few cafes and restaurants that are located nearby. The mosque is small in size, and can get crowded on the weekends, which is why the best time to visit is during weekdays.

Alhamdulillah, prayed salah here so many people together. I think facilities of ablution (odu) need to increase here. Cause, I saw so many people ablution (odu)by the filter water situated outside mosque through bottle.

This is one of my favorite mosques in Jeddah. Being right beside the shore it’s an iconic landmark of Jeddah city. If you’re a tourist visiting the city make sure to visit this mosque and soak in all the beautiful views it has to offer.

I’m an english motivational speaker in the entire ksa, kindly take my review seriously. As a visitor, I experienced this masjid for the 1st time and it’s a beautiful sea side masjid located opposite of business park tower. It’s an old masjid, abit faded, found some paints off which need maintain and there are no toilets for men & women, only ablution. It has a small area for prayers, i was pretty shocked when I entered. The masjid is big in size, but the praying area for men is really small. If I’m not wrong, only 60-70 people can hardly pray behind imam during salah time (6-7 parallel lines behind imam’s courtyard) especially while maintaining a distance. I don’t know about women’s praying area, it should be same as men logically. But i was happy to pray in this masjid, they have carpets set outdoor for male & female visitors to pray anytime as they lock the indoor technically 20mins after the prayer ends. I rated 3 stars because they dont have toilets and there were some visitors like me, asking for toilet location. I literally told them, the toilet is at the back side where ablution is located because i never knew masjids are also builts without toilet unless i saw a signboard stating there are no toilets. I was embarrassed to myself because i told those men, there are toilets at the backside which turned out to be a wrong info. For toilets, there are certain locations at new corniche where you have to buy a card worth 10 SAR and use toilet 4 times. The card validity is 6 months from the purchase (I will attach an image of my card that i bought in 2021 on my previous visit) I hope you find my review helpful and informative enough. Cheers!
