A part of the Hejaz mountains in Saudi Arabia, Jabal Qarnayt is around 2495 meters high and is considered the second-highest peak in the Hejaz range. The peak of Jabal Qarnayt rises around 500 meters from its surroundings and is composed of granitic stones and stands out immediately among the rugged peaks of Taif.
After thousands of years, the climate has disintegrated most of its granite landscape to pieces, meaning you will find sand everywhere in the valley. The slopes are riddled with enormous boulders, and if visitors look closely, they can even witness the changes these rocks have been through.
Location
People have to drive from Jeddah towards Mecca in order to get to the mountain. Once on the road, travelers fall in love with the breathtaking scenic views. You will also find monkeys on the roadside hoping to receive food from the travelers. However, the road can also get crowded because families, adventurers, and explorers from different regions of Saudi Arabia, especially Jeddah, come to visit this beautiful mountain.
The climb
The mountain itself is extremely steep, and ascending it is not an easy task. In order to climb it, you must have the necessary equipment and some experience with traversing tough terrains. Descending the mountain is even trickier than climbing it because of how steep it is, plus the loose rocks make the descent even tougher.
