Description

Located in Al Jubail mountain around 30 kilometers southeast of Riyadh, Heet cave is famous for two things in particular: its limestone formations and its crystal clear waters that make it an ideal for adventurers and explorers.

The underground lake in the heart of the cave is more than 30 meters deep. The water level used to be much higher in the past which made it an easy water supply for travelers and passers-by. The cave also has a number of sinkholes, which serve as the entrance to water reservoirs underneath the surface of the cave.

Inside the Cave

To get to the Heet Cave you have to go through the scorching heat of the desert, but the moment you enter the cave you will forget that you are in one of the hottest parts of Riyadh because of the cooling effect created by the limestone walls and the lake.

The cave’s limestone walls, coupled with crystal clear water, make for an enchanting sight that one has to see to believe. All of these things come together to make Heet Cave an amazing place for nature lovers and explorers.

This is a place you should add for sure. But I wouldn’t pay for a tour if you have a car. It’s a short distance from both Riyadh and Kharj. 10 minutes off the main highway 65. Nice little hike to the cave. Be careful on the loose rocks on the trail.

First, it seemed difficult to get down there but once you start, you can slowly get down. Very interesting cave.

This place has it's own serene experience , those who like confined spaces filled with water will like it very much. This cave is not so far from Riyadh , its 50 min drive and one can reach to cave by taking off road for 10 minutes and you'll be there. It does not have washrooms, food stalls or gas stations nearby and parking is free and it's a free entry. Make sure you wear good pair of shoes for going down in the cave because it is situated deep under the mountain with a steep slope. Water isn't good for drinking and most of them enjoy swimming inside ; also take one small water bottle for yourself while going down into the cave. Not recommended for senior citizens and small kids as the place is uneven and unsafe for normal walking while going into the cave. This trip can be best enjoyed under daylight as there is no light in it's vicinity.
