Historically, a wonderful place to visit. However, when I visited initially 4 years ago, the actual well was uncovered and you could see it's original condition, but now it's been boarded around. I'm not sure what they're planning for refurbishment but I hope they don't lose the original look. The merchants there will charge between around 5 and 30 riyal for different sized bottles so you can fill up your own water. They have other little trinkets, too.

This well was initially dredged by the villagers of the area for their water consumption. The well was supposed to provide fresh underground water to the villagers and those passing through the village. Unfortunately, the water was unfit to drink as it was saline and bitter. Those villagers who consumed the water were affected by various types of illnesses. Animals were also badly affected as they consumed the poisonous water from the well until Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) announced the elimination of the toxicity of the well.
